Solar Astronomy: Observing and Imaging the Sun £30

Saturday 6th May 10am – 4.00pm at Tooley's Boatyard, Banbury


This course will incorporate: Telescopes types and setups used for solar imaging including white light, Ha, and CaK, and use of double stack systems, types of cameras, collimation, focusing, image size, capturing the data, pre- processing, stacking videos and still images, final processing, base use popular software.

Gary is one of the leading solar imagers in the world. His images have been widely published accross all sorts of media around the world. Prior to that he was mainly a planetary imager and deepsky imager. Gary now concentrates on imaging the Sun at high resolution and creating large mosaics of the Sun. He also does alot of "Solar Outreach" bringing solar viewing to a wide range of people and groups. Gary has a wide ranging knowledge of equipment and how to set it up. He also works with large equipment maunfacturers, and has provided them images for publication.
